To comply with provincial regulations & guidelines, use this document when creating advertising and marketing materials. This document outlines the advertising requirements for Mortgage Agents/Brokers.

Compliance Disclaimer

BRX Mortgage Inc. is a registered Mortgage Brokerage. As a registered Mortgage Broker/Agent of BRX Mortgage, you are only authorized to arrange or deal in mortgages on behalf of BRX Mortgage. Anything you create that can be seen by any member of the public MUST comply with the BRX Advertising Guidelines. All Marketing and Advertising material must be submitted to Compliance for approval if there is any doubt on it meeting the Brokerage & Regulatory guidelines for your province. This includes any advertisement or material that is published, circulated, broadcasted, or made available to the public by the Broker / Agent in connection with his / her status as a licensee or his / her dealing or trading in mortgages. Lender Logo’s cannot be used on Websites or in any Advertising without proper authorization. A mortgage broker or agent broker must not make any false, misleading or deceptive statements in any advertisement, circular, pamphlet or other similar material.

Agents must advertise & market with the standards of the province they are regulated in:

AB: RECA
BC: BCFSA
ON: FSRA

Mandatory Requirements

Are all these present and clearly visible without obstruction or misrepresentation.

Agent Name

As officially registered, abbreviations or alternatives must be approved by the regulator.

AB: Search RECA for your approved name(s)
BC: Log in to your IRIS portal for your approved name(s)
ON: Search FSRA for your approved name(s)

Agent Title

Generally, you must have the required certification to be a “Mortgage Broker”.

AB: Mortgage Broker
BC: Submortgage Broker or Mortgage Broker
ON: Mortgage Agent Level 1, Mortgage Agent Level, 2 or Mortgage Broker

Brokerage Name

The use of any Team Names or Personal branding is generally prohibited. Instead, display the Brokerage name.

Does any information on your advertisement or marketing; mislead, confuse, or trick a member of the general public into thinking there is an offer that may not be valid? Additionally, is your Brokerage unclear or does the advertising make any falser or misleading promises? Issues on marketing material could be indicated by, but not limited to, any of the following.

🔰BRX Advertising Guidelines

Does your advertising;

Look like you are representing yourself as a brokerage?
Use any logos on your material that are not the brokerage logo?
Contain an team name that requires approval from your regulator & brokerage?
Shows an address other than the brokerage address?
Use industry-related terminology that would be difficult for a consumer to understand?
Contain any statements that are misleading or require conditions?
Contain any guarantees?
